Vasumathi is a social drama about a young filmmaker who faces a personal and cultural conflict when she gets her period on the day of her film shoot at a temple. Raised with traditional beliefs, and struggling with schizophrenia, she hears voices warning her against entering the temple. But Vasumathi chooses courage over fear. The film is a strong voice for women’s empowerment, challenging age-old taboos around menstruation in Indian society.
